Mumbai: The number of corona patients in the country is going to touch the figure of three lakhs. In the last 24 hours, 9 thousand 996 new patients have appeared. The situation in the capital of Maharashtra, Mumbai, is much worse. Mumbai has now also overtaken China's first center of Corona, Wuhan. In the 'Economic Capital of the country', corona infected cases have crossed the figure of 51 thousand. There is no space left for the corpse to be kept in the mortuary of the hospitals.
The families of the deceased are not carrying the bodies of their relatives. At the King Edward Memorial (KEM) hospital in suburban Parel, 12 unidentified bodies have been waiting for the last three weeks for cremation. Either their families are unable to be identified or the family members are refusing to identify their relatives for fear of coronavirus infection. Now the management is forced to seek help from the police. The cremation of these unidentified bodies will be done by the Bhoiwara police.
Only 36 dead bodies can be kept safe in the hospital at one time, but the situation is worsening due to rising corona cases and unknown dead in Mumbai. As per the Governor's order issued on May 2, the family of the dead has to be handed over to the body within 30 minutes of the death. If the deceased is not identified, then there is a provision to keep him under surveillance for 48 hours. This information has been given by Dr Harish Pathak of the Forensic Department of KEM Hospital.
