Mumbai Police arrested 2 men for passing lewd comments

Mumbai: The Santacruz police arrested two men near Juhu Chowpatty for allegedly stalking a woman. Both accused were allegedly making obscene gestures and comments at the victims. They even assaulted the victim when they (victims) objected to the same. The victim was being accompanied by two of her sisters. The accused were identified as Amit Verma and Rakesh Pal. Verma works as a security supervisor while Pal is employed as a security guard.

The accused were allegedly making a lewd gesture at the victims and were passing inappropriate comments. When the victims sat down, the accused started taking selfies. The accused allegedly took selfies in a way that the victims were in it.  According to the source, when the victims asked the accused not to click the pictures, they did not listen to them. This led to an argument between the victim and the accused. The accused also assaulted the victim. 

According to the police, a patrolling team was in close proximity to the area. They reached the spot within five to ten minutes and arrested the accused. The accused were booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

In a similar incident, a woman allegedly committed suicide after she was constantly harassed and stalked by a man. The victim allegedly poisoned herself at her residence. The accused had rushed the victim to the hospital. The accused had allegedly confessed his feelings to the victim and even after the victim had turned him down, he had persisted.
