Mumbai: A man has been arrested in Navi Mumbai area of Maharashtra for allegedly raping a stray bitch. Animal activist Vijay Rangare, in collaboration with PETA, an institution working for wildlife, lodged an FIR against the rape accused. PETA has alleged that the accused had acted in the past with several animals.

The accused is said to have committed the crime in Khargar area. A case has been registered against the accused under Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code. According to Section 377, it is a crime to rape an animal and the person convicted can be sentenced to up to 10 years. Psychiatrists believe that there is a lot of mental dispersal that leads to the crime of animal rape.

The video of the bitch raping her on Independence Day went viral. Later, Animal Activist Vijay Rangare searched the accused and arrested him at the hands of the police. Rangare also discovered the bitch and conducted her medical examination. If the medical report confirms the rape, the accused person can be sentenced to up to 10 years.
