Drugs worth Rs 44 lakh seized by Mumbai Police

Mumbai: Ghatkopar unit of the Mumbai Anti Narcotics Cell has arrested a drug peddler from Dockyard Road Mazgaon area. 220 grams of MD drugs have been seized from him. The value of the seized drugs in the international market has been estimated at Rs 44 lakh. A case has been registered against the culprit under the NDPS Act. 

According to the police, while patrolling, a man appeared suspicious under the Dockyard Railway Bridge. Thereafter, he was searched, then 220 grams of MD drugs were recovered from him. The police are interrogating the criminal to find out from where he had brought these drugs and to whom he was going to sell them. On Monday, the police produced the criminal in court. The court has sent the drug peddler to police custody till February 9. Even before this, on January 22, two drug peddlers were arrested by Mumbai Police in the Govandi area. Drugs worth Rs 23 lakh were recovered from them. A case was also registered against both criminals under the NDPS Act.

Along with this, the Ghatkopar unit of the Anti-Narcotics Cell had seized 610 grams of MD drugs from Mahim and Virar areas a few days back. Let us tell you that a few days back Mumbai Customs Zone-III destroyed 140.57 kg of drugs. The narcotics were burnt at the Mumbai Waste Management Limited's (MWML) incineration facility at Taloja, Navi Mumbai. The value of the seized drug in the international market was estimated to be around Rs 538 crore.
