Mumbai: The controversy over the cruise drugs case in Maharashtra does not seem to be coming to a halt yet. Mumbai NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede has been accused by a cabinet minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik. Mumbai Police on Thursday recorded the statement of Sameer Wankhede in connection with the complaint raised by Malik on Wankhede's caste. Meanwhile, Nawab Malik's son-in-law Sameer Khan has issued a legal notice to former CM and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis.

Nawab Malik has questioned the Wankhede's caste alleging that he was a Muslim and secured a government job through a fake caste certificate. Wankhede and his sister Yasmin have lodged a complaint to the Mumbai police in the case. Sameer Wankhede has also complained about Malik's allegations to the SC/ST Commission. It was the Commission that asked the Mumbai Police to investigate it.

All these complaints are being investigated by a committee of the Mumbai Police and are being investigated by ACP level officials. The ACP rank official on Thursday recorded Wankhede's statement in the case. Wankhede also handed over his documents.
