Mumbai: Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut's troubles have increased. Mumbai Police has issued summons to Sanjay Raut in connection with the Rashmi Shukla phone tapping case. Now Sanjay Raut will have to appear before the police. Sanjay Raut has been summoned by the Colaba police station.
Let us tell you that on Thursday itself, NCP leader Eknath Khadse had recorded his statement in the Rashmi Shukla phone tapping case. However, it is not yet known when Sanjay Raut was summoned by the police. The date of when Sanjay Raut will have to appear at the police station has not been revealed so far. After receiving the summons, Sanjay Raut will have to appear at the Colaba police station. On the complaint of a senior police officer, an FIR was lodged against IPS officer Rashmi Shukla at Colaba police station in March under relevant sections of the Indian Telegraph Act and the Indian Penal Code. The complaint alleged that Rashmi Shukla had put the numbers of former BJP leader Eknath Khadse and Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on the watch list.
At the same time, the police had said that the alleged illegal phone tapping took place when Rashmi Shukla was the head of the state intelligence department (SID). According to the complaint, Khadse's mobile was allegedly taped twice in 2019 when he was in the BJP. He joined the NCP in October 2020. The officer said that apart from Khadse, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut's mobile was also tapped in November 2019 due to the formation of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government. He said a case has been registered against Rashmi Shukla on the basis of a complaint lodged by the ACP (Special Branch).
