Mumbai: Mumbai's Powai police on Thursday arrested a 42-year-old tuition teacher under the Pocso Act for sexually abusing a 13-year-old student in his cabin. The girl reached home and informed her mother about the whole incident. The girl's mother took her to the police station and lodged an FIR in this regard.

The mother and daughter both reached the Powai police station and lodged FIR under Section 354A (sexual harassment) and 12 (sexual harassment of children) under the Posco Act. The student, in her complaint, said that at about 5.40 p.m. on September 11, the tuition teacher asked her to come to her cabin. He then made indecent comments and told the student that he wanted to have a physical relationship with her. The student did not respond at that time and came home.

Senior Police Inspector Anil Pofle informed that the accused teacher has been produced before the Sessions Court and remanded to police custody. In the investigation, the police found that he used to talk obscenely to other girls also, but today nobody complained about it. Further investigation is underway.
