Mumbai: The whole country is struggling with Corona. There is an increase in corona cases in Mumbai. During this, it has been found in the serosurvey conducted in Mumbai that the antibody of corona infection has been prepared in 57 percent people living in slum areas. The number of such people in non-slum areas is 16%. This shows that half of the population living in slum areas recovered after getting infected with coronavirus and people did not even know about it. This survey has been done in three wards of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

According to the news agency, this serosurvey started on June 3 and by the first two weeks of July, 6,936 samples out of an estimated 8,870 were collected. These three wards are F-North, M-West and R-North. According to BMC, these results of the survey are very important to gather more information about herd immunity. This serological survey was done by BMC together with NITI Aayog and Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR).

According to sources, BMC is preparing to conduct another survey. This will reveal important information about the spread of coronavirus and herd immunity. As of now, it has not been clear as to what level of infection is needed for herd immunity. The survey also revealed that corona infection was seen slightly more in women than men. According to BMC, due to the high prevalence of corona in the slum, it can be a problem for people.
