Mumbai: The black marketing of injection remdesivir used for the treatment of corona has not stopped so far. Recently, a ward boy from Nagpur was sentenced to a financial fine with 5 years rigorous imprisonment by a court for black marketing of its and some other drugs. Yes, let us also tell you that earlier on 23rd July, another ward boy has been sentenced to three years in Nagpur in the same case of remadesivir black marketing. The ward boy we are currently talking about is Sheikh Arif Sheikh Rafique (22 years old) who worked at Hope Hospital in Nagpur.

When his bag was searched on April 23 during the second wave of corona this year, two remdesivirs, four pantoprazole, and one meropenem, piperacillin, and Sussex injection were recovered from the bag. According to reports, he had stolen all these injections from the pharmacy of Hope Hospital and wanted to black-market the needy patients. He was arrested on April 24 as part of the information received. 13 witnesses were produced against Sheikh Arif by the prosecution in the case and now Additional Sessions Judge PB Ghughe has sentenced him to a total of five years rigorous imprisonment and some financial fine under several different sections.

Under the information received in the case, he will have to spend another year in jail in case he is unable to pay the financial fine. Within 10 days, another ward boy has been sentenced in Nagpur in connection with the black marketing of Remdesivir. In fact, on July 23, another ward boy Mahendra Ratanlal Rangari was sentenced to three years imprisonment by the court.
