Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express train is all set to launch as early as possisble and its trial begins today, May 16. As the trial begins today, the fourth Vande Bharat semi-high-speed train will soon be in service. The Mumbai Central - Ahmedabad - Gandhinagar Capital, Mumbai - Sainagar Shirdi, and Mumbai - Solapur Vande Bharat Express trains are the three Vande Bharat trains now operating in Mumbai. After an assessment, the new train service will be inaugurated after the electrification of the Mumbai-Goa rail line was finished last month.
Trains operated by Vande Bharat are capable of running at a top speed of 180 km/h. These advance trains have bio-vacuum restrooms, automatic doors, wi-fi, and regenerative braking systems in addition to GPS-based passenger information systems. These are the first types of trains that can travel between Mumbai-Pune and Mumbai-Nashik's steepest ghats without using any auxiliary rear engines.
The Vande Bharat Express has been operating at a top speed of 130 kmph for commercial services but has been operating at an average speed of 83 kmph for the last two years due to poor track conditions.
The average speed of the Vande Bharat Express train was 84.48 kmph in 2021-22 and 81.38 kmph in 2022-23. The New Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat Express, which was introduced in 2019 and runs at an average speed of 95 kmph, has the fastest average speed, with the Mumbai CSMT-Sainagar Shirdi Vande Bharat Express having the slowest average speed of roughly 64 kmph. The second-fastest train, the Rani Kamalapati (Habibganj)-Hazrat Nizamuddin Vande Bharat Express, averages 94 kmph.
The Indian Railways runs an electric multiple-unit train called the Vande Bharat Express. They were created at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai after being designed by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation.
