Munawar Faruqui, a stand-up comedian who has been locked up in Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut's brave reality show 'Lock Upp,' is pleased to be a part of the show and ready to face whatever obstacles he may face within the jail.

He says: "I'm completely unprepared for it. I didn't think much before going inside, and I went in with an open mind. I've dealt with pressure before, and I'm curious to see how much of a challenge this performance will be for me. I'm here to amuse as an artist. I think that keeping a positive and happy attitude can help me get through this. There's also hilarity. Humour can be a powerful weapon in the face of adversity."

Munawar has no reservations about battling against anyone. As he shares: "To be honest, I'm quite pumped. There isn't a speck of nervousness in the air. I'm ecstatic to be inside 'Lock Upp' and to meet my fellow competitors. I'm looking forward to spending time with them and competing with them, and I can't wait to meet everyone. It is not a simple task for me, and it may be even more difficult for the other contestants."

He goes on to explain why he decided to perform the show, saying: "People may ask why I chose to make a show in which my thought differs from that of another co-artist involved in the project. That, however, is not the case."

"The concept of the show was what drew me in the most. It's something we've never seen before in India, and I couldn't say no. I felt becoming a part of their endeavour and seeing where it leads me would be fascinating. When you're in a zone, you want to try new things, and 'Lock Upp' is absolutely different from anything I've ever tried." Munawar had a rough past, and in 2021 he was accused of hurting people's religious sensibilities, but he accepted it as a part of life.

On replying to how all these controversies affected him, he answers: "Of course, the things that put you in a spot in life affect you, and they did affect me too. They are a part of my life. But I didn't let that stop me. I kept on working. I kept making music, I did shows, I released more stand-up videos and continued doing what I wanted to do. In the past year itself, I got around 12 lakh followers, which goes to show that my efforts have paid off and I have been successful in entertaining my audience."

There's also a metaverse-based game planned around the show. While sharing about the same, he says: "The metaverse-based game will allow people to connect with the Lock Upp universe directly, which is very exciting. As a contestant, I would urge my fans to go to the 'Lock Upp' game and support me, or any other contestant that they like. " 'Lock Upp' streams on ALTBalaji and MX Player.
