NEW DELHI: Two persons were arrested in connection with the murder of a transgender in New Delhi's Sunlight Colony area.
As per the statement by the police, the transgender was killed as she was allegedly trying to blackmail one of the accused, who was also her friend, to tarnish his image.
The police official said, the hospital received a PCR call from a transgender patient named Abhisekh Tomar alias Minal (22), who was later pronounced dead by the medical staff.
A police squad rushed to the hospital the moment they received the information. The family members' statements were taken down by the police, who also reported the murder to Sunlight Police Station.
Two suspects were identified by the police after they used technical surveillance to analyse the CDRs and CCTV footage from the scene.
The two suspects, Sonu Kumar (20), of Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, and Himanshu Kumar (21), of Swaroop Nagar, Delhi, were detained during the course of the investigation.
"Old friends Minal and Himanshu used to see one other at her flat in Hari Nagar, Ashram (Delhi). The dead was threatening to tell Himanshu's father about their relationship in order to get money from him. Himanshu, the accused, therefore, intended to get rid of Minal. He persuaded Sonu, a worker at his father's spare parts store, to perpetrate the crime in exchange for an excellent mobile phone "police reported.
