Amritsar: Crimes are increasing nowadays in Punjab. A Hindu saint was murdered in Mohali in the state. The deceased has been identified as Mahant Sheetal Das, aged 70. Mahant Sheetal Das has been killed by hitting him with a sharp weapon. Mahant Sheetal Das lived in a hut and used to earn his living by begging. At the same time, nothing has been known about the killers yet. Locals spotted his body on Thursday (November 10) and informed the police, after which the police registered a case and started investigating.
According to reports, the deceased Sheetal Das had been living in Budhanpur village near Mohali for the last 42 years. His hut was behind a government school. Mahant's samadhi is at the same place. Sheetal Das was originally a resident of a village near Fatehgarh Sahib district of Punjab. At 10 am on the day of the incident, the women of the village saw his body and informed the police. A gang of buffalo thieves is suspected to be behind the murder. Villagers say buffalo thieves had come to the village a day ago and also tried to steal a farmer's buffalo. Meanwhile, some people woke up and screamed. Hearing the noise, the thieves jumped the wall of the house and fled.
Mahant Sheetal Das also owned 3 bighas of land. The police are now investigating all aspects related to the murder. At present, the police have taken the body of Mahant and sent it for post-mortem. The incident is being investigated. The police have assured to arrest the accused soon. At the same time, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has condemned the murder of Sheetal Das. Recently, Shiv Sena leader Sudhir Suri and Dera follower Pradeep Singh were killed in public in Punjab.
