KOLKATA: The presidential candidate for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Draupadi Murmu, is anticipated to visit Kolkata on Saturday to solicit support for her campaign.

She will meet behind closed doors with 69 elected party leaders from the state during her full-day visit. According to state BJP sources, Pawan Singh, the party's MLA from the North 24 Parganas district's Bhatpara Assembly constituency, has been purposefully left off of that list by the state BJP leadership.

Singh is the son of former BJP Lok Sabha member Arjun Singh of Barrackpore in the North 24 Parganas district, who recently rejoined the Trinamool Congress.

Suvendu Adhikari, the opposition leader in the West Bengal Assembly, has directed all the concerned MLAs to present at the MLA Hostel in central Kolkata by 7.30 a.m. on Saturday so they can be taken directly to a hotel in New Town in the city's northern outskirts, where the aforementioned meeting will begin at 9 a.m. Party MLAs who are not in Kolkata have been told to come by Friday night.
