Murmu visits Patna to seek support for presidential poll

PATNA: The NDA's presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu arrived in Patna on Tuesday morning to solicit support for the July 18 poll.

Murmu landed at the Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport at 11.15 am in a special aircraft.

During the visit, Murmu will meet with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and visit the state BJP office.

Later, a BJP leader claimed, "she would travel to a hotel close to Gandhi Maidan where she would meet senior leaders of the NDA constituents, including the MPs and MLAs, and seek their support in the election." She is expected to depart from Patna in the late afternoon and travel via Guwahati to reach Agartala.

Murmu yesterday visited whirlwind to seek support for her candidature. She met  JMM president Shibu Soren and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar.

Several regional parties have already pledged their support. Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, already mentioned that Murmu could have been a unanimous choice. Analysts have already predicted an easy victory for the former Jharkhand governor.
