Surat: The hijab controversy that started from Karnatak has now slowly started reaching other states of the country as well. A Hindu organisation has objected to Muslim girl students wearing hijabs in a school in Surat. Police have detained 15 activists of the Hindu outfit as a precautionary measure to prevent the escalation of the dispute. The police have also increased deployment in the surrounding areas so that the situation does not deteriorate.

The case is being reported from PP Savani School located at Varachha in Surat. On Tuesday, 4 to 5 Muslim students had come here to take the exam wearing hijab. After making a video of it, some of the students delivered it to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) organization. Shortly after this, the VHP people reached the school and started protesting. The VHP workers who reached the school went straight to his office to talk to the principal. After that, the commotion started in the school. Soon, the police also reached there and detained 15 activists of the organisation.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Nilesh Akbari, who arrived at the school, said a conspiracy was being hatched to make Gujarat shaheen bagh. We have asked the principal why the dress code rule is not being followed in the school.
