Karnataka: Several Muslim organisations in Karnataka have called for a bandh today to protest the High Court's decision in the Hijab case.

The bandh will be observed to show regret at the verdict, according to Maulana Sagir Ahmad Khan Rashadi of the Ameer-e-Shariat in Karnataka. He sent out a video message in which he urged all Muslims to pay attention to the command and follow it to the letter.

"I implore all Muslims to carefully listen to the command read out here and to follow it to the letter. "On March 17, there will be a comprehensive bandh across the Karnataka State for the entire day to express our indignation over the tragic order of the Karnataka High Court regarding hijab," Rashadi remarked.

He urged members of the Muslim community from all walks of life to join the bandh.  "Make it a success, and show the authorities that education is possible while sticking to religious beliefs." We also ask that everyone who cares about justice and the Millat-e-Islamia join the bandh," Rashadi stated.

During the Bandh, the Maulana also urged youth to be peaceful. "Youths are asked not to impose a bandh by forcibly closing stores, or engage in sloganeering or processions." The bandh will be absolutely nonviolent, silent, and just for the purpose of expressing our outrage, according to the religious leader.
