Muzaffarpur shelter home case: Tejashwi Yadav’s Jantar Mantar protest; Rahul, Kejriwal likely to join

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) is all set to stage a protest at Jantar Mantar in the national capital on Saturday 5 PM over Muzaffarpur shelter home sexual assault case. Leader of opposition in Bihar Assembly and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has appealed people to come out in large numbers to take part in the protest.

The former Bihar deputy chief minister tweeted, “Come Delhi, join us today at Jantar-Mantar in evening for dignity and safety of Bharat Mata’s daughters. #MuzaffarpurMassRape.”

 Worth mention here the protest is also likely to give another platform to opposition parties to showcase their unity against the PM Modi –led NDA. In a support to RJD Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has also urged Delhiites and Congress president Rahul Gandhi to join the candle light protest at Jantar Mantar at 5 pm on Saturday.

The Congress president will join the Jantar Mantar protest held by the opposition party in Bihar, expected to demand the resignation of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the Muzaffarpur shelter home rape case. At present the case is being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

On a related note the Supreme Court has also taken suo motu cognizance in the Muzaffarpur shelter home sexual assault case, with a division bench comprising Justice Madan Bhimrao Lokur and Justice Deepak Gupta. The bentch issued a notice to Bihar Government and the Centre seeking a detailed reply over the issue.
