This fort is located in the coastal village of Murud in Raigad district of Maharashtra, which is known as Murud Janjira Fort. Murud Janjira Fort is the only fort on the west coast of India that could never be won. It is said that the British, Portuguese, Mughals, Shivaji Maharaj, Kanhoji Angre, Chimaji Appa and Sambhaji Maharaj had tried hard to win this fort, but none of them could succeed. This is the reason why this fort, 350 years old, is called the 'invincible fort'. The door of the Murud-Janjira Fort is built under the cover of walls, which, when moving a few meters away from the fort, ceases to be visible due to the walls. It is said that this must have been the reason that despite coming near the fort, the enemies used to dodge and could not enter the fort.
