There are many ancient forts in India that tressured many secrets in itself and one such fort is also located in Murud, a coastal village in Raigad district of Maharashtra, known as the Murud Janjira Fort. It is built at an altitude of 90 ft above sea level and the fort is unique in that it is built in the sea (Arabian Sea).

Murud Janjira Fort is also the only fort on the west coast of India which has never been won and says that a lot of efforts were made by the British, Portuguese, Mughal, Shivaji Maharaj, Kanhoji Angre, Chimmaji Appa and Sambhaji Maharaj to win the fort. However, none of them could succeed and hence the 350-year-old fort is also called the 'Invincible Fort'.

The door of the Murud-Janjira fort is under the cover of walls, which is not visible because of the walls when they go a few meters away from the fort. The fort was built in the 15th century under the supervision of Malik Ambar of the Ahmednagar and is said to be surrounded by 40 feet high walls. It is said to have been built in 22 years and has 22 security checkpoints spread over 22 acres.
