There are many temples of Lord Shiva in India, there are some temples which are known for bizarre reasons. In Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, near Beas and Parvati rivers, a mysterious temple of Lord Shiva is situated on the high plains, the mystery of which has not been revealed until now. After every 12 years, this temple receives celestial lightning, although even after lightning, there is no loss of any kind to the temple. This temple is full of mysteries.

According to the mythological beliefs, the valley on which this temple is situated is made in the form of a snake. According to myths, Lord Shiva killed this snake. However, Shivling of the temple gets fractured due to lightning. The pandits here continue to worship even after the Shivling is fragmented. The priest of the temple pours milk as an ointment so that Shiva can get relief from this pain.

According to stories that are told since ages, 'A monster named Kulant had powers that he can disguise as snake whenever he wants. Once he was resting at Beas river near Mathan village which stopped the flow of the river and the water started accumulating rapidly there. By doing this, his aim was that all the animals living here would die on their own. Shiva got angry after seeing this'.

After this Shiva disguised and approached the demon and told him that his tail has caught fire. After hearing this, Kulant looked back and so Shiva attacked his head and he died. It is also said that the giant body of the demon turned into a mountain, which we know today as Kullu. It is also said that Lord Shiva, after killing Kulant, asked God Indra to make lightning fall every 12 years. The intention of Lord Shiva to do this was to keep the people wealthy and healthy. Thus, God protects his devotees always by any means.
