Only 10 days before the start of the French Open tennis tournament, Rafael Nadal is again suffering from the pain of injury. The legendary player suffered a leg pain in his third round match against Denis Shapovalov at the Italian Open on Thursday, which ultimately led to his loss. Shapovalov did not allow Nadal to take advantage of the early lead and win 1-6, 7-5, 6-2.

During this match, 35-year-old Nadal was seen stumbling due to pain on some occasions. Nadal missed several tournaments last year due to a left leg injury. Nadal has said that, 'My leg is injured again. It is paining. I am a player who is busy living life with injuries. This is not new for me. Unfortunately, the injury and my choli are on the side. Day by day it is getting worse.' A foot injury is a cause of concern for Nadal as he has won a record 13 titles at the French Open starting on May 22. Nadal has said, 'What will happen in a week, I really don't know.'

Earlier, world number one Novak Djokovic defeated Stan Wawrinka 6-2, 6-2. Wawrinka was playing his second tournament after two operations on his left leg. At the Italian Open, 5-time champion Djokovic will next face Felix Auger Aliassim, who defeated American qualifier Marcos Girone 6-3, 6-2.
