Spanish star Rafael Nadal may have crashed out of the Madrid Open quarter-finals after losing to Carlos Alcarez, but that is not worried as his focus is still on the French Open starting May 22.  

Nadal said after Friday's three-set defeat, "I accept this defeat. I know which path I have to be on so that I can do well in Paris in two-and-a-half weeks' time. I'm working on that. Nadal came out to play at the Madrid Open after six weeks to recover from the injury. He has said that the ideal would have been that he would not have played in it but he is happy to play in it.'' He said, "I did what I could. It is reported that Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal made a good start by making a comeback after an injury and had made it to the third round by defeating Miomir Kesmanovic in straight sets at the Madrid Open.''

Nadal started with a 6-1 7-6 win on home soil here on Wednesday. After the win, Nadal had gone to watch Real Madrid's Champions League football match. "After coming back from injury, I always want to play a lot of matches so that I can get my best form. He said, "It was very important for me to win to build confidence.'' Its former defending champion Alexander Zverev defeated Marin Cilic 4-6 6-4 6-4 to advance to the third round,  where he will face Sebastian Corda of the United States. Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Lucas Pouley and 8th seed Felix Auger Aliassime defeated Cristian Garin. Qualifier Dusan Lajovic made a comeback by defeating fifth seed Casper Rudd while ninth seed Cameron Norrie defeated John Isner of the United States.
