Nagaland issues advisory on Bird Flu

Bird Blu is wreaking havoc in many states of India. In the view of new trouble, the states are taking solid steps to prevent it. The Nagaland government on Thursday issued an advisory for preparedness, control and containment of bird flu in the State.

The Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services issued the advisory to the public and district officers of the directorate. It has been issued for coordinated efforts and containment measures against avian influenza. It asked the public to report unusual sickness and mortality of poultry birds, ducks, pet birds to the nearest Veterinary Health Centre. The directorate also urged the people not to handle and consume such poultry birds, ducks that have died suddenly. However, it is safe to consume healthy poultry birds, ducks, turkeys, etc. The poultry owners were asked to not to mix outside (unknown source) live poultry birds, ducks into his/her stock to prevent transmission of diseases.They have also been asked to refrain from importing such stocks from the diseased outbreak and its neighbouring states.

Meanwhile, the Centre on Thursday said bird flu has been confirmed only in Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh so far, but all states should be prepared for any eventuality.
