Sarbananda Sonowal, the Union Minister for Ayush, Ports, Shipping and Waterways, said on Friday that an Ayush medical college will be established in Nagaland shortly. Sonowal emphasised the importance of Ayush and its ongoing development in the state, which is considered a biodiversity hotspot along with other North-Eastern states, as he inaugurated the state's first-ever Integrated Ayush Hospital at Razha Chedema in Kohima.

He stated that the Centre has been encouraging the growth and promotion of Ayush since it not only provides our bodies with robust immunity but also helps us perform better at work. He went on to say that growing and promoting Ayush will generate cash as well as create employment for the state's educated unemployed youth.

Nagaland, he said, has a big role to play in this area because the Northeastern states are rich in natural resources and have been designated as one of the world's biodiversity hotspots.

Sonowal expressed his delight at being among the Naga brothers and sisters. The Nagas, he said, are brave, resolute, and hardworking people. He praised the state's lush nature and plentiful natural resources, urging residents to scientifically study and use them.

S Pangnyu Phom, Nagaland's minister of health and family welfare, hailed the Union minister for his visit to the state. He also advised people to explore all of the state's natural resources, noting that the state has a diverse range of flora and fauna that might be used as therapeutic plants.
