In our Hindu society even today there are many such mythological beliefs which are strange. On hearing the name of the snake, everyone gets scared because the snake is considered to be the direct form of Kaal (death). Now today we are going to tell you about a tradition prevalent in ancient times. Even today many people write a sentence called 'Aastika Muni ki Duhai' on the outer wall of their house. There is a story behind this that we are going to tell you. It is said that by writing a sentence called 'Aastika muni ki duhai' on the outer walls of the house, a snake does not come in that house.

Story - At the beginning of Kalyug when King Parikshit was bitten by Takshak Nag due to the curse of Rishi's son, he died from it. When this was revealed to Janamejaya, son of King Parikshit, he got angry and organized a 'Sarpeshti Yagya' to avenge the death of his father, to destroy the entire Naga caste from this world. Due to the effect of this 'Sarpeshti Yajna', snakes themselves came from every corner of the world and started to be consumed in Yagya Agni.

The Nagas went to the Astik Muni and prayed for their protection, seeing the complete destruction of the Naga caste. Pleased with their prayer, the Astik Muni took a promise before saving the serpents that the place where the serpent would see his name written, they would not enter that place and would remain away from that place. When the serpents gave this promise to the Astik Muni for their protection, then the Astik Muni convinced to Janmejaya. At the behest of the Astik Muni, Janmejaya stopped the 'Sarpeshti Yagya'. Thus due to the intervention of Astik Muni, the imminent destruction of the serpents was halted. It is believed that even today, snakes do not enter the place where the name of Astik Muni is written to keep the promise given to him.
