New Delhi; Due to the COVID scenario, Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu advised that all members of the House adhere to new seating arrangements and avoid sitting close to one another on Monday. In contrast to previous arrangements, new sitting arrangements for members have been established in the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha chambers, as well as the galleries of both Houses. When COVID extended across India in 2020, this seating arrangement was introduced for the first time in Parliament. The seating arrangement was relaxed during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, however it was reinstated in light of the COVID third wave.

On Monday, the Rajya Sabha Chairman made the proposal during the first sitting of the Budget Session of Parliament. "I'd like to make a request to the members to stay in the seat that your party and you have been assigned. I've already urged the Secretary-General to communicate with the heads of various political parties to ensure that their members are aware of their seating arrangements so that they can sit in their assigned seats. Even today, I noticed some members seated close together. At all costs, this should be avoided "Naidu explained.

The number of seats for each party in the Rajya Sabha chamber, Rajya Sabha galleries, and Lok Sabha chamber has been fixed according to their numerical strength for the Budget Session,. "Before participating in the discussion, members in the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha chambers are asked to raise their hands and announce themselves so that they can be recognised. Members are permitted to speak where they are seated in order to reach out to people using suitable voice "Naidu said..
