In Jalal village of Kaladhungi range of Ramnagar forest division, on Tuesday evening, the leopard killed 90 goats tied up in a villager's cowshed. The officials of the forest department reached the spot and recovered the bodies of 45 goats from the cowshed. 18 goats were found lying in an injured state, 25 goats were missing. According to the information received, Laxman Singh went to his house on Tuesday evening after feeding 90 of his goats from the forest and tied them in the cowshed.
According to the villagers, his cowshed is just 50 meters away from the house. When he woke up in the morning, he went to the cowshed and saw the goats. The bodies of all the goats were lying there. He then informed other villagers about the incident. The Forest Department officials went to the spot to check the place.
According to forest officer Amit Gwasakoti, leopard may have made goats his morsel. He told that the forest department is investigating the incident, only after that, the victim will be given appropriate compensation. According to former District Panchayat member Ganesh Singh Mehra, most of the villagers of the village live by rearing cattle and goats, but leopards have caused continuous damage for many days.
