LUCKNOW: Jus few Days, after the CM Yogi Adityanath led government in Uttar Pradesh, changed the names of two districts - Allahabad and Faizabad - to Prayagraj and Ayodhya, respectively, an official proposal has now been submit to the state's Governor seeking his consent to rename Allahabad University as Prayagraj State University.

Reports suggested that, the Vice-Chancellor of Allahabad University has sent a proposal with this respect to the state government for its consent following which it will be sent to the state's Governor Ram Naik for approval.

Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma of UP had earlier stated that since the name of Allahabad has been changed to Prayagraj, it's clear that there would be demands to rename other institutions in the district.

'There is a demand to rename Allahabad State University and Board of High School and Intermediate to Prayagraj," Sharma had stated.

It is noted that that the state cabinet recently gave its consent to rename the Allahabad and Faizabad divisions.

Worth mention here the Faizabad division, consisting of Ambedkar Nagar, Amethi, Barabanki, Ayodhya and Sultanpur districts, has now come to be known as Amethi division.

On the other hand the Allahabad division consists of Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Kaushambhi and Pratapgarh districts has been renamed as Prayagraj division.
