Narad Jayanti is on this year today i.e. 8th May. Narada Muni has been considered as the psyche child of Brahma. Narada Ji is an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu and he is known for delivering messages.
It is said that Narad Muni sat down in devotion to Lord Vishnu and Narada Muni meditated, Devraj Indra felt that Narada Muni does not want to attain heaven on the strength of his penance! After thinking this, he sent Kamdev to disturb him with the nymphs of heaven, but there was no effect of Kamadeva's illusion on Narada Muni. After that, the frightened Kamadeva apologized to Narada and returned to heaven. Narada Muni became arrogant that he had conquered Kamdev.
He reached Baikunth near Srihari to declare his victory and started telling him the whole incident how he won Kamdev. Shrihari Vishnu came to know the ego that had come in the mind of Narada and he decided to free his beloved Narada Muni from the ego. After that when Narada Ji was returning from Baikunth, on the way he saw a very beautiful and prosperous city, which had a huge palace. This city was built by Srihari from his Yogmaya. Narada Muni could not understand anything and reach the palace of this city. There the king gave him a grand welcome and called his daughter and told Narada Muni that 'I have to do my princess's Swayamvar. Seeing her hand, tell me something about her future. Narada Ji was fascinated by the appearance of the princess.
When Narada saw her hand, he kept looking at the palm lines. In fact, according to her lines, her husband will be a world winner and the whole world will be at his feet. Narada Ji did not tell this thing to the king. Seeing the princess and the lines of her hand, Narada had forgotten Vairagya. Narada Ji went back to Baikunth and wished Vishnuji to make him beautiful. Srihari said on this, 'I will do what will be in your interest.' Narada Ji did not understand his point and after returning from Baikuntha, he went to the princess's Swayamvar.
He felt that now he has become very beautiful and the princess will now put a garland around his neck. But the princess put the garland around another prince's neck and did not even look at Narada Muni. After that Narada Ji felt that Shrihari made me beautiful, then the princess did not even see me, he was surprised when he saw his face in the water. His face was like a monkey. Narada Ji was very angry and after filling in anger, he reached Baikunth. Where he saw the princess along with Srihari Vishnu. On this, he cursed Srihari that you have ridiculed me by giving a monkey face, I curse you that you will be born on earth and you will have to take help of these monkeys.
Shrihari Vishnu kept smiling after listening to Lord Narada. Narada understood that the princess was none other than Goddess Lakshmi herself and that the prince was none other than Srihari Vishnu himself. Narada Muni started apologizing to God. But could not take the curse back. Srihari also obeyed him and incarnated as Shri Ram.
