New Delhi: The apex court has dismissed a petition filed against West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and others for staging a dharna at CBI office in the Narada sting case. The Supreme Court has said that it will not interfere as the matter is still pending in the Calcutta High Court.
Mamata Banerjee herself had reached CBI office and sat on dharna when Firhad Hakim, minister Subrata Mukherjee, MLA Madan Mitra and former minister Sovan Chatterjee were arrested by CBI in the Narada sting case. Viplav Sharma had filed a petition in the apex court against the same dharna. Dismissing the petition, the apex court said that when the matter is before the high court, no one can be allowed to jump in the middle.
Narada sting tapes were made public before the 2016 assembly elections in West Bengal. It was claimed that the tapes were recorded in 2014 and showed TMC ministers, MPs and persons who look like MLA allegedly taking cash from representatives of a fictional company.
