New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi held talks with 14 select leaders of various political parties in Jammu and Kashmir on the state's situation at his residence on Thursday. The meeting, which was held on Thursday, lasted for about 4.5 hours. Meanwhile, PM Modi said he wants to dispatch both the "distance to Delhi" and the "distance to the heart." He expressed his commitment to the democratic process in Jammu and Kashmir. Talking to reporters after the meeting, veteran Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that issues like delimitation, elections, restoration of full statehood, rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits, and domicile were discussed openly in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to media reports, PM Modi told Jammu and Kashmir leaders that he wanted to remove the "distance to Delhi" and "distance to heart." He said that there may be political differences, but we should all work in the national interest so that the people of Jammu and Kashmir get benefits. PM Modi emphasized that there is a need to ensure an atmosphere of security and betterment of all in Jammu and Kashmir.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, his party chief Altaf Bukhari said that the talks were held in a very good atmosphere. He said PM Modi listened to all the issues of all the leaders. PM Modi said the election process will begin after the delimitation process is completed.
