New Delhi: There is tremendous enthusiasm among BJP workers regarding PM Narendra Modi's rally in Haldwani, Uttarakhand. PM Modi will be the fifth PM to reach Haldwani. PM Modi will give many gifts to Kumaon in the rally to be held at MB Inter College ground today. Earlier, four PMs had reached Haldwani and presented development plans to the area. The last time in the year 1996, the then PM HD Deve Gowda gifted Sushila Tiwari Hospital to Haldwani.

For the first time, PM Indira Gandhi reached Haldwani in 1974 under Congress rule. She had held a public meeting at Numaish Khet (mini-stadium) in Haldwani. She had announced the opening of better educational institutions in the hilly areas. It was also said that unless schools are opened in hilly and remote areas, the development will not be possible in the area. After Indira Gandhi, in the year 1987, the then PM Rajiv Gandhi went on a tour of Haldwani. He had launched the HMT factory in Rani bagh. Thousands of youth got employment from this factory. In 1994, the then PM PV Narasimha Rao reached Haldwani. Addressing a public meeting near the Army Helipad in Haldwani, he announced the expansion of roads and health services in the hilly areas.

On 28 July 1996, the then PM HD Deve Gowda went on a tour of Haldwani. Deve Gowda had inaugurated the Sushila Tiwari Hospital. Now on Thursday, PM Modi is going to lay the foundation stone and inaugurate projects worth more than 17 thousand crores at MB Inter College Ground in Haldwani. The people of Kumaon are expecting to start many big schemes including Jamrani Dam, Ring Road, ISBT, International Zoo, Bageshwar Railway Line from PM Modi.
