The founding chairman of Jet Airways, Naresh Goyal,  has agreed to quit, amidst talks of airlines non-repayment of dues to lessors. According to reports,  Goyal’s stepping away will help Jet Airways foreign partner, Etihad group to move in.

According to reports of IANS, Jet Airways on Thursday said that it has grounded six more aircraft, taking the total to 19, over its non-repayment of dues.  Airline told Jet Airways "Further to our letter dated 27 February 2019, we now write to inform you that an additional six aircraft have been grounded due to non-payment of amounts outstanding to lessors under their respective lease agreements.

The airline On Wednesday had informed the stock exchanges that it had grounded a total of 13 aircraft. The additional grounding of six more that came on Thursday, might impact around 85 flights. The latest move seems to have affected many passengers as they took to social media about problems related to their flight cancellation.

Jet Airways official twitter account meanwhile wrote to many aggrieved customers saying they were “…experiencing extremely high call volumes at our Contact Centre for change and cancellation requests…”.
