Batra also appealed to the global body to look into the operational issue of GFI. The GFI elections are to be held on November 3 and for some time the organization has faced factionalism in which the opposing faction has claimed the right to conduct sports in the country. The Shetty-led faction is recognized by the FIG but the Sports Ministry and the IOA do not recognize it.
