Narmadapuram: The birth anniversary of Maa Narmada is being celebrated today. Narmada Jayanti celebrations are being held at every ghat from Amarkantak to Gujarat. In Narmadapuram, both Narmada Jayanti and the City's Pride Day are being celebrated simultaneously today. The two-day festival began on January 27. The main ceremony will take place on Saturday. Shivraj Singh Chouhan will worship, anoint and perform the aarti of Maa Narmada from Jal Manch. All ghats and cities have been decorated for Narmada Jayanti and Pride Day. Sethani Ghat has been decorated like a bride.  

The process of bathing and worship continues on Saturday morning. About 70 to 80 thousand devotees are expected to arrive today. Apart from Narmadapuram, devotees from Harda, Betul, Bhopal, and other districts came here. Keeping in mind their convenience and safety, 600 police officers/staff have been deployed. In Narmadapuram, vehicles arriving at all ghats after 2 pm will be banned. Traffic and parking arrangements have been made by the police. Along with the special cleaning of the ghats ahead of Narmada Jayanti, the ghats have become more attractive with multicolored, decorations and colorful rainbow lights.  

Special electrical decoration has also been done in the evening under beautification on the main intersections. All its preparations are being completed, At 5.30 pm on Saturday, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan will participate in the main program and worship Maa Narmada. Development works worth about Rs 79 crore will be launched. The Chief Minister will inaugurate development works worth Rs 2 crore, legacy best remediation of Rs 3.42 crore, a railway overbridge built at a cost of Rs 5.53 crore, and a new commissioner building constructed at a cost of Rs 11.26 crore. Apart from this, he will lay the foundation stone of an auditorium to be built at Dussehra Maidan with a cost of Rs 1.97 lakh.
