Mumbai: BJP and state police have now come face to face after FIRs were lodged against Union Minister Narayan Rane at several police stations in Maharashtra. In fact, the Nashik police, which issued arrest orders against Narayan Rane, said in a recent statement, "The order has been issued following the rules.'' On the other hand, the state BJP says, "No Union Minister can be arrested as per the standing orders protecting constitutional authorities and the state government is crossing its limits.''
Let me tell all of you that Nashik police have registered a case against Rane under Sections 500, 505(2), 153-B, (1) (C) of IPC for derogatory and hateful statements. In fact, the FIR has been registered in Nashik on Tuesday morning on a complaint by Shiv Sena chief Sudhakar Badgujar. After all this, a police team has been sent to Chiplun in Ratnagiri to arrest Rane. On the other hand, Nashik City Police Commissioner Deepak Pandey says, "The police are following the rules and an arrest order has been issued under legal provisions.''
He also said, "The exemption granted to an MP will be taken care of. Union Minister is a Member of the Rajya Sabha, we are bound to inform the Chairman of the Upper House at the appropriate time after his arrest. A police team has been sent to arrest the Union Minister. The arrest order has been issued so that such work does not appear again in the future.''
