Noted film director Buddhadeb Dasgupta passed away at his residence in the early hours of Thursday due to kidney related ailments. This was reported by the family members. Dasgupta was 77 years old. Expressing grief over his demise, filmmaker Gautam Ghosh said, 'Buddha Da was making films, writing articles and was active despite his ill health. He directed Tope and Urojaz even though he was not healthy. His departure is a huge loss for all of us'. Buddhadeb Dasgupta is survived by his wife and two daughters from his first marriage. Family members said the National Award winning director had been suffering from kidney disease for a long time and had regular dialysis twice every week.
