In the rural areas of the Indian state of Chhattisgarh, some people have still not got up from ignorance and superstition. A case of similar ignorance came to light in Kotba area of Jashpur district when it was found that a woman injured by a thunderbolt (falling lightning) was covered with cow dung instead of being treated. However, she was later rushed to the hospital for treatment.

According to media reports, Kumari Jayasila Sethi (20) was sitting in the verandah of the house on Friday afternoon in a village of Farsabhar tehsil. During this time, she was scorched by thunderclap with rain. Her family put her in a pit of dung near the house. The mindless villagers kept arguing that in such an accident, scorched people get relief from the coolness of cow dung. Life is saved from the element present in cow dung.

Some educated people of the village tried to treat the injured in the outbreak of the virus, but the negligence of the health department also came to light. Navina Pankera BMO and CMO of the area were called. The officials assured of sending an ambulance, but the ambulance did not arrive. After about an hour, the woman was rushed by the Regional Medical Officer from her personal vehicle to the Primary Sub-Health Center, where she is undergoing treatment.
