New Delhi: The Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) has come into force across the country from today. The Central Government has announced to implement the CAA in the country with effect from 10 January 2020. In this regard, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification that under this law, non-Muslim refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan will be granted Indian citizenship.

According to the sources, this thing has been fraudulent, under sub-section (2) of Section 1 of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, the Central Government has decided to implement this law from January 10, 2020. The new citizenship law was passed from Parliament on 11 December. Under the CAA, people from Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian communities who came to India from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan till 31 December 2014 will not be seen as illegal refugees. These minorities tortured on the basis of religion in these 3 neighboring Islamic countries will be granted Indian citizenship.

There have been protests all over the country against this law. Those who oppose this law say that for the first time religion will be the basis of citizenship in India. It has been noticed that it hurts the basic concept of the country's constitution. However, the central government and the ruling BJP have been vigorously defending this law. They say that people from these 3 neighboring countries have been tortured on religious grounds. Where these people have no other option but to come to India to save their lives and honor. However, the Home Ministry is yet to decide the rules regarding this law.
