On Saturday, senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have lost the trust and confidence of the people of the country. Digvijay told reporters, 'This is a question of trust and confidence. Modi Ji had said 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, everyone's trust'. Today, Modi and Amit Shah have lost the 'faith' of the people.'

According to media reports, Digvijay Singh said this to reporters on the ongoing protest against the new Citizenship Amendment Act. Protests are taking place across the country against the Citizenship Amendment Act, which gives citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists and Christians from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh, who visited India on or before 31 December 2014.
