A Delhi court on Friday adjourned Aircel-Maxis case, involving former Union minister P Chidambaram and his son Karti. The court has taken this decision with repeated demands from CBI and IDI. Special Judge OP Saini ordered the adjournment of the hearing without mentioning the next date for hearing. He said that the Advocate Party can approach the court regarding the next hearing and investigation of the case.

On Thursday, the court granted interim bail to Chidambaram and his son Karti in the money laundering case filed by the CBI. In the Aircel Maxis case, it was listed for debate in view of the charge sheet. However, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and Special Public Prosecutor Nitesh Rana, representing the case on behalf of CBI and ED, appealed for adjournment on the grounds that the reply of Letters Rogatory (LRs) was awaited. The agencies demanded the court to hear the case in the first week of October.

In its statement, the court said, "Prosecutors are seeking a date . The case is adjourned for an indefinite period. When the investigation is complete, they can approach the court for a hearing". The Aircel Maxis case is being investigated by ED and CBI. The case took place in the year 2006 when there were alleged irregularities in the approval of the Foreign Investment Promotion Board in the Aircel Maxis deal. P Chidambaram was Finance Minister then.
