Education Day is celebrated in India on 11th November every year. In remembrance of the country's first Education Minister Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the country celebrates the National Education Day on 11th November. The Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) announced on September 11, 2008, that Abul Kalam Azad has contributed to his contribution in the field of education in the country and will be celebrated as education day by remembering him.
Abul Kalam served as the first Education Minister of free India from 1947 to 1958. He believed that primary education should be given in the mother tongue. He stressed not only on women's education, but he advocated free universal primary education as well as vocational training and technical education for all children till the age of 14 years.
The Sangeet Natak Akademi, Sahitya Akademi, Lalit Kala Akademi were formed in 1950. All this was led by freedom. In the Central Assembly in 1949, he emphasized the importance of modern science. The Maulana had set up several schools, colleges and universities to raise the standard of education.
