A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court of India, in which the court has demanded to ensure the release of prisoners. It has also been said that apart from the lockdown pass to be released as daily wage laborers, financial assistance should also be provided to them. This petition was filed in the court on Wednesday by the Center for Accountability and Systematic Change (CASC).

For your information, let me tell you that another institution has sent a memorandum to the Chief Justice seeking order for the immediate release of the foreigners who have been detained at the Detention Center in Assam due to Corona. This memorandum has been sent by the Justice and Liberty Initiative through an email.

Apart from this, the Supreme Court had given several orders to protect the prisoners lodged in jails from Korana infection. A directive was asked to consider convicts in the offense of punishment of seven years or less and release of the prisoners under consideration in such offenses on parole or interim bail for a reasonable time.
