As a result, on 4 July 1966, the Press Council was established in India, which was duly released from 16 November 1966. Since then, till November 16 every year has been celebrated as National Press Day. In the same world today, there are press councils or media councils in about 50 countries. Press in India has been watchdog and Press Council of India has been Moral watchdog. National Press Day is drawing our attention towards freedom of press and responsibilities.

Today the idea is being mixed in the news. The editorialisation of news is taking place. The number of news stories based on ideas is increasing. This has led to an unhealthy trend in journalism. News is the mother of ideas. Therefore, views based on news may be welcome, but news based on ideas is becoming like a curse. The same media is considered both a mirror and a lamp of society. The news media in them, whether they are newspapers or news channels, are basically considered to be the mirror of society. The job of a to present a picture of society in front of society.
