Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also paid floral tributes to Major Dhyan Chand in New Delhi. Speaking at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, he emphasized the significance of the day, stating, "Today, on National Sports Day, we remember and honor Major Dhyan Chand. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also took a moment to remember Major Dhyan Chand, referring to him as the "face of Indian sports" and a source of pride for the nation.
