Veteran paid tributes to Sardar Patel on his 146th birth anniversary

National Unity Day is being observed across the country on Sunday to mark the 146th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Since 2014, 31st October, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the iron man of India, is celebrated as National Unity Day. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday attended the National Unity Day function near a 182-metre tall statue dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at Kewadia in Gujarat. Amit Shah paid floral tributes at the Statue of Unity in Kevadia on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Home Minister Amit Shah is the Chief Guest at the 'Rashtriya Ekta Divas' function today.

The same PM Narendra Modi also addressed the event through a recorded video message. In his message, PM Narendra Modi said, "Today, the country is paying its tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a national hero who dedicated every moment of his life to Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat. Sardar Patelji is not only in history but also in the hearts of our countrymen.'' On the birth anniversary of iron man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, all senior leaders including PM, President paid homage to him. President Ram Nath Kovind paid homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary on Sunday. He said that the citizens of the country will always be indebted to them for establishing a work culture based on morality and service to the nation.

 

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari tweeted on the occasion, "A symbol of determination and strong willpower and salutes the architect of modern India Bharat Ratna Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Ji on his birth anniversary. National Unity Day greetings to all.''
