Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Kalinga Art Gallery and five regional art galleries on Thursday in Bhubaneswar.

The Kalinga Art Gallery, located on the grounds of the State Museum, is the state's largest art gallery. In the districts of Chhatrapur (Ganjam), Puri, Balasore, Sambalpur, and Koraput, five regional art galleries have been established. The Odisha Lalit Kala Akademy is the driving force behind the creation of these art galleries.

The Chief Minister, who was present virtually at the event, declared that the State will soon be home to a world-class museum complex. He stated that he has authorised the Department of Odia Language, Literature, and Culture to draught a master plan for a world-class museum complex with various historical, artistic, and cultural amenities.

The Chief Minister remarked that Odisha is a tremendous store of rich cultural and creative legacy, highlighting the state's cultural splendour.  "We have distinct art, architecture, sculpture, and handicraft traditions that show a rich cultural legacy. Art is entrenched in our blood and minds. We owe it to our artistic traditions to maintain, conserve, and promote them, and we should do everything we can to do so "Patnaik explained.

He went on to say that the Kalinga Art Gallery will be a powerhouse for the state's art and artists. "It will bring together artists from all around the world, including national and international artists. It will also assist art-loving locals and visitors in learning about our rich artistic heritage" he said.
