Navjot Kaur clinches gold in the Asian Wrestling

Women wrestler Navjot Kaur clinched first gold medal for India in the Asian Championships. The Asian Wrestling championship held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. In the final round, who belongs to Khalsa School Sports Club, Tarn Taran (Punjab) defeated Hanbitn Lee of Korea in the 65 kg women's final.

With one gold, two silver and one bronze medal, India were at the second spot in the medal tally. China were leading the table with four gold and one bronze medal while Japan were at the third place with one gold, one silver and two bronze medal.

Besides Navjot, along with Vinesh Phogat (50 kg class) and Pinki of Indian Railways (72 kg) claimed silver medals in the Asian Wrestling championship.

 

Indian position so far: Gold: Navjot Kaur (65 kg).

Silver: Vinesh Phogat (50 kg), and Pinki (72 kg). 

Bronze: Sangeeta Phogat (59 kg). 5th Divya Karan (68kg). 7th Kiran (76 kg). 8th: Lalita (55 kg).

On the other hand, Lei Chun scored the winning take down with just under a minute to go to defeat Vinesh Phogat of India by 3-2 in the 50 kg final, the first of four gold medals won by China in the five weight classes contested on the third day of competition at the Kozhomkul Sports Palace.
