After Sidhu's resignation, the Punjab Congress is once again seen divided into two factions, one of which is Sidhu's stand for CM Amarinder Singh.

There has been a long-running confrontation between CM Captain Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu. The differences between the two can be gauged from the fact that CM Amarinder Singh had even blamed Sidhu for the embarrassing defeat of the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections. Even recently, when CM Amarinder Singh changed the department, he had changed his portfolio, accusing Navjot Singh Sidhu of not doing his job properly.
